This is James Taylor's version of it but he couldn't have written it. He would only have been three or so years old the first time I heard it. But his version is the closes to the lyrics I remember. Amost exactly but not quite.
Maybe you'll remember it Burgundystblues. we were in high school and it was a big hit on the radio. Maybe not in the top 10 or 20 songs but awfully close. It was a male who sang it and the lyrics were a little more expanded nd cool than Taylor did them. It could have referred to coming back from Korean war.
I tried to track down the writer but was told that Irving Berlin wrote it in 1924. That is not the same song.
Somebody help. I want to hear it in its original version.
